Riva

A design that speaks so eloquently of movement and water, with a pliable yet substantial hand and a lively graphic twist that renders it entirely of the moment.

RIVA PGT 2011

The word “riva” translates from Italian to shore or bank, which we feel is entirely appropriate for a design that speaks so eloquently of movement and water. It is also the name of the manufacturer of the jazzy wooden speedboats used by the likes of Gianni Agnelli to ferry his fellow A-listers from one glamorous party or secluded cove to another on whatever body of water he happened to be. The design of our Riva suggests the sparkling wake created by one of these powerful little vessels.

Woven at the same centuries-old mill in Southern Italy that produces Festoni, our dramatic flamestich, Riva has the same pliable yet substantial hand as the venerable historic design, but with a lively graphic twist that renders it entirely of the moment. The soft hand and medium scale make it a natural for chairs, ottomans, cushions and settees. And after you’ve decided which rooms to enliven with Riva in the house, why not have a few cushions (in the Como colorway of course) made up for the stateroom of your own elegant water craft, be it moored in Portofino, Santa Monica, or Poole Harbour.
