ORIETTA PGT 2003
This small-scale figured chenille had as its inspiration a fisherman’s belt woven of rope and displayed on a mannequin in a display of Greek culture at the Benaki Museum in Athens. Patrick happened upon it many years ago and kept it in his mental file titled “random objects that would make wonderful textiles”.
Well, Orietta’s day has finally come, and we are delighted to present an intricate design that has depth, graphic interest and an extremely soft hand – and all within a 2.7 cm repeat. It’s a little reminiscent of a carpet bag, and it would make a handsome modern version with a leather handle and trim, but will find its intended raison d’etre on chairs, banquettes, cushions and sofas.
